How shopping, dining can help CASA Kane County

As part of its “Partnerships with a Purpose” program, CASA Kane County will be receiving back a portion of the June proceeds from Kimmer's Ice Cream in St. Charles and Moveable Feast and State Street Jewelers, both in Geneva.
The “Partnerships with a Purpose” program is an event or campaign developed by a company, organization or individual that wishes to hold a promotion, event or sale to benefit CASA's child advocacy program. Lori Hewitt, director of development for CASA Kane County, reached out to these three entities and asked if they would be willing to donate back a portion of their June proceeds to CASA.
The money donated will be used toward the recruitment, training and supervision of community volunteers who serve as court appointed special advocates/guardians ad litem for children who are in court due to abuse and neglect.
“Partnering with local community merchants and businesses is what this program is all about,” Hewitt said. “It is amazing how the community will get involved with partnering with us at CASA to help these children, but also how they can partner with each other to help their businesses grow.” Kimmer's Ice Cream recently partnered with Moveable Feast on four flavors of specialized ice cream. Kimmer's purchases the cookie dough for their chocolate chip cookies, white chocolate salty oatmeal cookies as well as peanut butter cookies (all for ice cream cookie sandwiches) from Moveable Feast.
The flavors of ice cream Kimmer's makes with the use of Moveable Feast's homemade bakery items are: Fairy Tale Cookie ice cream (almond based with Moveable Feast Fairy Tale Cookie Chunks), White Chocolate Salty Oatmeal Ice Cream (with their cookies in chunks and blended throughout the base of the ice cream), Chocolate Fudge Brownie (with their brownies), and Milk & Cookies with their chocolate chip cookies in chunks and throughout.
Moveable Feast now carries Kimmer's ice cream pints at her shop in Geneva. “It's been a fun and inspiring collaboration so far, we just keep finding new ways to work together to use Moveable's ingredients into our ice creams which makes them incredible,” said Kim Elam, owner of Kimmer's.
State Street Jewelers has also partnered with CASA by donating jewelry every year to CASA's large dinner and auction fundraiser held every March. Stacey Dougherty, a saleswoman at State Street, wanted to continue giving back so she is personally donating back a portion of her June commissions to CASA.
CASA Kane County is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the juvenile court system and has been advocating for these children since 1988.
