Why the Chicago region was shut out on Forbes List of Manufacturing Boomtowns

Given the state of Illinois' challenging business climate, including onerous workers compensation regulations, unfunded pension liabilities, debt ratio and corporate tax structure, it's little wonder why the Chicago region does not merit inclusion in the latest Forbes survey of manufacturing boomtowns as reported below:

Illinois can, and must do better.

Local manufacturers are ready to lead the way, ushering in a new era of economic prosperity through job creation. Led by the Tooling & Manufacturing Association of Illinois (TMA), we stand ready to recruit and train the highly skilled workers necessary to reclaim our region's prominence in the manufacturing world.

To help us achieve this goal we encourage our leaders in Springfield to pass legislation that helps grow our manufacturing base, including the local property tax abatement bill for small manufacturing companies (SB 1519) sponsored by Park Ridge Senator Dan Kotowski, that passed the Senate unanimously but is now buried in the House Rules Committee, and common sense workers compensation reform that allows us to compete on a level playing field with our neighboring states.

We are bullish on manufacturing's return to greatness and trust our elected leaders will join us.
