Wheeling’s Walker wows ’em with walk-off

Senior Emily Walker drove in sophomore Lauren Hart from third base for the winning run in Wheeling’s 9-8 victory over visiting Regina in the nonconference softball game on Friday.

Senior Taylor Vasey and Hart (2-for-3, double) had each singled in the inning and senior Kaitlyn DeBusk advanced them with a perfect sacrifice bunt.

Walker ended up 3-for-4 with 2 RBI while Jackie Resnick was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI.

Winning pitcher Katie Quagliano had an RBI and double while her catcher Nikki Mikosz also had an RBI.

Sara Kern added a double for the Wildcats (9-16).

Rolling Meadows 7, Addison Trail 2: Sam Anderson (2-for-4, triple, RBI) Jenny Watson (3-for-4, RBI), Hannah Whidden (3-for-4, double, 3 RBI) and Sara Brunlieb (2-for-3) led the offense for visiting Meadows (18-14).

Brunlieb earned the win, striking out nine.
