Rescue group’s fundraiser to include silent auction

Submitted by Open Doors Animal Rescue

Open Doors Animal Rescue will host a “Kitten Season Kickoff Fundraiser” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the West Dundee Petco, 403 N. Eighth St, West Dundee.

Founded in 2009 and originating in Hampshire, Open Doors Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is primarily based out of foster homes throughout the Chicago area.

Open Doors Animal Rescue is committed to alleviating the needless suffering of homeless animals by humanely reducing the number through spay/neuter and finding permanent homes for the animals in our care.

“We are looking to raise funds for food, supplies, and medical expenses to help offset the rescue’s cost of the upcoming kitten season. The Kitten Season Kickoff will feature many adoptable kittens and will be fun for the whole family. We’d love to have people bring their family by on Saturday to join us,” said Hillery Higginbotham, executive director and founder of Open Doors Animal Rescue.

The free event will showcase adoptable animals, including adorable cats and kittens. The Adoption Center in the West Dundee Petco will be open to play with the resident cats. The kittens and mama cats will be on special for an adoption rate of $75 in honor of Mother’s Day. Be sure to check out the silent auction.

The kids will have a day of fun, too, with kid friendly activities and magic and balloon twisting by Bruce Young of Memorable Magic.

If you bring or purchase an item from the wish list, you can be entered into a raffle for a gift basket.

Contact Open Doors Animal Rescue if you have an item you would like to donate to the silent auction or to the animals.
