Village of Lombard Declared State of Emergency Due To Flooding-UPDATE

The Village Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for this evening at 7:30 p.m. has been canceled. Elected officials and staff want to focus on the flooding related issues and provide service to the residents and businesses that have been impacted by the storms.

The Village of Lombard has received approximately six inches of rain during the last 24 hours, which has led to flooded roads, ponds overtopping their banks and hazardous conditions. The weather forecast anticipates up to an additional two inches of rain throughout the day.

Village crews are working to minimize the impact of the storm on private and public properties. The Village is currently focusing its resources on emergency response. All storm sewer and pump stations have continued to operate at capacity. “The Village has received hundreds of calls from residents. We are focusing on Life Safety issues and we remind residents to call 9-1-1 for a life threatening emergency,” said Dave Gorman, Assistant Director of Public Works. The Village strongly encourages residents to avoid traveling, as many vehicles have been stuck in the high water.
