Prairie View to hold recycling event Saturday

Submitted by Prairie View School

Celebrate Earth Day by gathering your items to responsibly recycle at the Prairie View School PTO recycling event. It will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 20 at the school, 10N630 Nesler Road, Elgin.

Items accepted for recycling include but are not limited to: garden items; patio items; garage items such as lawn mowers, shovels, and rakes; grills; lawn furniture; metal fencing; snowblowers; golf clubs; bicycles; and mailboxes.

Also accepted will be appliances, such as stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, air conditioners, water heaters; and household items, such as aluminum cans (pop/beer), steel cans (soup/vegetable), pots and pans, baking sheets, metal hangers, vacuum cleaners, blow dryers, silverware, cooking utensils, metal bed frames, and curtain rods.

In addition, they will accept auto items, such as steel and aluminum car rims, batteries, body parts, starters, alternators, radiators, compressors, engine parts; and tools, such as power tools, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers and more.

You also can bring miscellaneous items, such as Christmas lights, electric motors, pipes, faucets, stainless steel sinks, light fixtures, electrical wire, doorknobs, locks, keys, metal blinds, strollers, storm doors, screen doors, window frames, folding chairs and tables.

Donate electronics, such a monitors, printers, scanners, cameras, computers, video game consoles, radios, DVD/VHS players, alarm clocks, cellphones, MP3 players, satellite receivers, household appliances, etc. Anything that plugs in or takes batteries — but not TVs. Note all hard drives are destroyed on site at ERC facility.

Prairie View students participating can earn a charm for recycling and celebrating Earth Day.

By recycling old materials from home, the Prairie View PTO will raise money to help the school. Not only will you be helping the planet, but you will also be helping the school. Two great benefits for participating.
