Algonquin Trails Swim Team registration now open

The Trails Swim Team invites area boys and girls ages 5-18 to become a part of their competitive summer swim club. Registration for the summer 2013 team is now open.

The Trails Swim Team is a place where children will improve their existing swimming skills in a competitive arena. The Trails program fosters a positive atmosphere for physical and emotional development while emphasizing the importance and benefits of this lifelong sport, a place to make lasting friendships and develop life skills like discipline and self esteem.

An experienced and highly regarded coaching staff develop stroke technique and conditioning as well as promote confidence in all team members. All practices are held at the Algonquin Lions Armstrong Memorial Pool located at 599 Longwood Drive. Practices are conducted daily by age groups, Monday through Friday, beginning May 20. There are 8 meets including a conference meet ending the season mid-July. Dual meets are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings; the Trails Invite and Conference Meet are held on Saturdays.

Swimmers 5-8 years old are eligible to join the team if they are able to swim one length of the pool (25 meters) without stopping. Older swimmers must be able to swim at least two lengths of the pool.

Trails Swim Team is a nonprofit organization that relies on parental involvement. As such, the team requires parents to work a portion of every home meet and help out in a variety of other ways to insure a successful and fun season!

The early registration discount is available now through March 18. See the Trails website (www.trailsswimteam.org) for registration forms and fee information.

An open registration event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 20 at the Algonquin Library, Eastgate Branch.

Bring your questions, meet the coaches, and try on apparel. Swimmers may register after May 1, but at the late registration rate.
