Conant musical leads were 1st-grade classmates

Retired first-grade teacher Mindy Jones couldn’t believe her eyes when she read the Daily Herald story Feb. 14 on the Conant High School production of “Legally Blonde, The Musical.”

Carly Gurrieri, who plays Elle, and Jeremy Gentry, who plays Emmett, are the leads. She knew them as first-grade classmates at Nerge Elementary School in Roselle, a fact they’d forgotten until Jones reminded them.

“When I saw Carly and Jeremy’s names in the Herald story, I immediately called my teaching partner Julie Gorvett and we made plans to go see the show!” said Jones, who is attending this weekend with Gorvett, now an instructional mentor in Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2, and there’s a matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $8. They are available online at www.ShowTix4U.com, by phone at (866) 967-8167, or one hour prior to each show at the Box Office located at West Entrance #5 of Conant High School, 700 E. Cougar Trail, off Plum Grove Road in Hoffman Estates.
