Freezin' for a Reason

Mrs. Amanda Boyer, Pre K teacher at St. James School, is all thawed out after a very chilling experience! On Saturday, February 23, she voluntarily jumped into a frozen Lake Michigan to support the Special Olympics in the annual Polar Plunge. Special Olympics Illinois is a not-for-profit organization that offers year-round training and competition in 19 sports for more than 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 11,000 Young Athletes ages 2-7 all at no cost to the athletes or their families.

This was Mrs. Boyer's fourth time taking the plunge or "freezin' for a reason" as the motto goes. Her team of 6 raised over $1250.00 for this wonderful cause. Overall the location where she attended raised over $72,000.00. The St. James School Community is so proud of her bravery!
