Des Plaines 4th Ward Alderman Dick Sayad was sworn in as Acting Mayor by City Clerk Gloria J. Ludwig at the Tuesday, February 19, 2013, City Council Meeting, at City Hall, 1420 Miner Street.
The Mayor's position, which became vacant when former Mayor Martin J. Moylan was elected State Representative of the 55th District in November, has been filled on a temporary basis by 8th Ward Alderman Mike Charewicz, who served until Monday, February 4, 2013, and 1st Ward Alderman Patricia Haugeberg, who served until Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
Acting Mayor Sayad will serve until Monday, April 15, 2013. The local election for the position of Mayor, City Clerk, and Aldermen of Wards 1, 3, 5, and 7, will take place Tuesday, April 9, 2013, with the swearing in of newly elected officials in May.
