Lords Park Elementary

Lords Park Elementary School and Cathy Green, Social Worker, are pleased to announce Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremonies on Friday, November 9. Kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students and teachers will meet around the flagpole at 8:15 A.M. for a special flag raising ceremony. This event will be followed by a special commemorative assembly for students in grade 4 and grade 6, beginning at 9 A.M. in the Lords Park gymnasium. Among keynote speakers for the assembly is Sgt. Vincent Lara, and patriotic music will be provided by Mr. Tom Flanigan and Dr. Jeffrey Schleff, District U-46 principals. Local dignitaries, representatives of armed services organizations, and all community veterans have a special invitation to this event and will be recognized for their contributions to our country. The event is open to all parents and community members. If there is a veteran that would like to attend our event, please call the school office at 847-888-5360 so that we can reserve a special chair for them.

Lowrie Elementary

On Thursday, Nov. 15, the school will have their annual Family Reading Night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Guest readers include Elgin Mayor Dave Kaptain, Supt. Dr. Jose M. Torres, U-46 author and Abbott teacher Mariano Mercado and author Debbie Taylor. Abbott Middle School band and orchestra members will also perform. Free raffle tickets will be given out just for attending. Bring your library card and a canned good for the food pantry and receive more raffle tickets.
