Endorsement: Crespo over Juarez in House Dist. 44

Incumbent Democrat Fred Crespo from Hoffman Estates is being challenged by newcomer Ramiro Juarez, a Republican from Streamwood. While we respect the fact that Juarez, a public schoolteacher, is dipping his toe in the political pool for the first time, his platform focuses primarily on one issue — education. His ideas are solid and well-informed on teacher pensions, but he doesn’t address a broad range of topics with much detail. Crespo, on the other hand, brings experience and knowledge of the issues facing the district and the state to the table. He offers substantial solutions for fixing the state pension problem, and he seems to have his finger on the pulse of his district. Crespo wins our endorsement. The district takes in parts of Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park, Schaumburg, Streamwood, Elgin and Bartlett.
