Kaneland Foundation to host cross country race

The Kaneland Foundation will host its first 5K Cross Country Race at 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the Kaneland High School campus/football stadium, 47W326 Keslinger Road, Maple Park. There also will be a quarter-mile Kids’ Track Run at 7 p.m. and a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk at 7:30 p.m.
The 5K and 1-mile runs will cover a flat, cross country course entirely on the Kaneland campus. Racers will finish on the Kaneland track for a spectator-friendly event. The 5K will be timed and awards will be offered in age groups and overall categories.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers in the following age groups for the 5K Cross Country Race: 14 and younger, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-65, 65 and older.
All runners will receive a T-shirt for participating provided they are registered by Friday, June 15. Packet pickup begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, near the track at the Kaneland High School campus.
At 7 p.m., the quarter-mile Kids Track Run will begin. There is no registration fee, but a signed waiver must be on file.
It will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. A $10 registration fee; signed waiver must be on file. At 8 p.m., the 5K Cross Country Race will take place. There is a $20 registration fee; a signed waiver must be on file.
