U-46 school news for week of May 21
All U-46 high schools will hold their graduation ceremonies on Saturday, May 26 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates. The schedule is as follows: Larkin High at 8 a.m.; Streamwood High at 11 a.m.; South Elgin High at 2 p.m.; Elgin High at 5 p.m. and Bartlett High at 8 p.m.
On Monday, May 28, all schools and offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.
Elgin High School
On Thursday, the spring orchestra concert will be held at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.
Abbott Middle School
On Wednesday, the school orchestra concert will be held at Larkin High School at 7 p.m.
The following elementary schools (grades 5-6) will also participate: Gifford, Lowrie, Otter Creek and Washington. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.
On Thursday, the school will be hosting College to Career Day. Students will have the opportunity to learn from the direct sources about the following topics: 1) campus life, 2) applying and learning at college, 3) getting ready for college, 4) various careers/opportunities, and 5) skills needed to be successful in the career field.

Also on Thursday, a Choral Concert will be presented at 7 p.m. at Larkin High School.
Ellis Middle School
On Tuesday, a Spring Band Concert will be presented in the school auditorium at 7 p.m. Also participating will be band students from grades 5-6 from Channing, Hilltop, Huff, and Lords Park elementary schools. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.
Tefft Middle School
On Wednesday, the Faculty vs. Student Alumni Basketball game will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the gym.
On Friday, the 8th grade dance will be held from 7-9 p.m. in the cafeteria.
Century Oaks Elementary
On Tuesday at 9 a.m., dads will meet and enjoy donuts at the school.
Clinton Elementary
On Tuesday, a Principal's Breakfast will be held for students in grades K-3. Students are selected by the teacher for their academic progress over the trimester. Pre-schoolers and kindergarten students will have lunch with the principal.
On Wednesday, a Principal's Breakfast will be held for students in grades 4-6.
Hawk Hollow Elementary
On Tuesday, a spring music program will be presented at 6:30 p.m. at Bartlett High School.
Heritage Elementary
On Tuesday, a Family Reading and Writing Night will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. All students will be showcasing their writing this year. Two children's authors will be present to show how their books are illustrated. There will be a Book Fair and food will be available for purchase.
Laurel Hill Elementary
On Friday, a Field Day will be held during school hours for students in grades 1-2 on the school playground.
Liberty Elementary
On Tuesday, Liberty students will celebrate the 4 C's (caring for self, school, others, and community) at a school wide PBIS picnic.
Lincoln Elementary
On Thursday, a White House Tea will be held from 6-7 p.m. at the school. Students in grades 4-6 will host an evening of information and fun regarding our presidents and first ladies.
Also on Thursday, the Hoffman Estates Police Dept. will have a presentation on Gangs at 7 p.m. at the school.
Washington Elementary
On Tuesday, a Young Authors Night and Scholastic Book Fair will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the school.
