Mork to lead Stevenson girls golf program

Brent Mork, who has been an assistant boys basketball coach at Stevenson since 2008, has been named the school’s new girls golf head coach.

He replaces Andrew Conneen, who is stepping down after 11 seasons that included five conference championships, two regional titles, two state finals appearances and one individual state champion.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity,” Mork said. “Andy has done a tremendous job building the program to an elite level in the area and in the state. I hope to build on what Andy has done and continue to move the program forward in the right direction. It will be a challenge, but with the girls that are returning, it should be an enjoyable one.”

The Patriots’ expected returning golfers include senior-to-be Stephanie Miller, who won the Class AA state championship as a sophomore.

Mork has served as an assistant varsity coach in the SHS boys basketball program for the past three seasons and was the head freshman coach in 2008. With the varsity, Mork has coordinated the offensive scheme and coached the perimeter players, developing five all-conference guards.

Prior to joining Stevenson, Mork was assistant men’s basketball coach at Lake Forest College for one season and spent two years as a graduate assistant at Wisconsin-LaCrosse, where he earned a master’s degree in sports administration in 2007. His undergraduate education took place at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

The Wisconsin native has an impressive athletic resume, playing three sports at Menomonie High School and quarterbacking the Mustangs to the Division 2 state championship in 1999. Mork was on the varsity golf team for four years and was its No. 1 golfer in his last three seasons. He earned first-team all-conference golf honors twice and reached the state tournament as a sophomore. He also was a three-year varsity basketball player and spent two years on the varsity football squad.
