Aurora man accused of trying to film woman in Waubonsee restroom
An Aurora man is behind bars after he attempted to film a woman in a bathroom at Waubonsee Community College’s Aurora campus, college officials said.
Jason Whitson, 41, 100 block of West Galena Boulevard, was charged with unauthorized video recording and disorderly conduct after he was arrested Friday by campus police, said Jeff Noblitt, communications director at the college.
He said Whitson walked into the women’s washroom of the school, at 18 S. River Road, and began filming a woman, who left immediately and filed a complaint with campus security guards. The guards then spotted and caught Whitson as he was trying to leave, Noblitt said.
Whitson is not a student at the campus, Noblitt said.
“We have an on-site professional police force that responded quickly and efficiently to the incident taking place,” Noblitt said. “This shows that we have a very efficient police force at the campus and that students are safe.”
Whitson remained in Kane County jail Wednesday in lieu of $50,000 bond, of which 10 percent must be posted.
