As the election approaches, I hope to see Mike Skala elected to the McHenry County Board for District 5. Through his leadership and experience as president of the District 158 school board, our district has exhibited fiscal responsibility while attaining high student achievement.
Examples include: freezing recent salaries in the district; abating $2.4 million in order to keep the tax levy the same as last year; restructuring bond payments to reduce last year’s tax rate; having the lowest operating cost per pupil for a unit district in McHenry County; and offering new Blended Learning and AP courses.

His is the type of leadership and financial responsibility we need in our county.
