Hanover Township salutes youth leaders

The Hanover Township Committee on Youth recently presented Youth Leadership Awards to five individuals in three different categories at a dinner in Veterans Hall at the Township Senior Center. Award recipients included: Jacqueline Mash of Canton Middle School in Streamwood, Junior Leader; Drew Bloomquist of Elgin High School, High School Leader; Cassie McLaughlin of Elgin High School, High School Leader; Justin Behrman, Streamwood Park District Employee, Community Youth Leader and Teresa Perez of the Streamwood Falcons Football and Cheerleading, Community Youth Leader runner up.

“It seems like in our community there is no shortage of youth leaders or the adults that work with them,” said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township supervisor. “Each of the recipients has displayed an enormous amount of commitment and courage and we are honored to recognize them for their service.”

Committee on Youth is a township advisory committee composed of 10 youth and adult volunteer members that meet once a month. The mission of the commission is to be a catalyst for promoting well being among township youth and families through family education, outreach and the fostering of community connections with an emphasis on positive youth development.
