Wadsworth teen, Crystal Lake woman injured in head-on crash

A Wadsworth teen suffered life-threatening injuries when his car crossed the centerline on Grass Lake Road near Antioch and hit another vehicle head-on, authorities said.

Phillip Brahm, 17, of the 0 to 100 block of Sarah Drive in Wadsworth, was traveling east when he struck a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old female about 2 p.m. Saturday.

The crash shut down the roadway for more than an hour, authorities said, and both drivers had to be extracted from their cars and flown via helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Brahm suffered from broken bones in the crash, while Brittany Suforna, 25, of Crystal Lake, was suffering from a compound fracture in her leg, authorities said.

Their condition was unknown Monday morning, officials said.

Officials are investigating the crash, Lake County Sheriff’s Lt. Christopher Thompson said, and toxicology results for both are pending.

No citations have been issued, Thompson said, because both remain in the hospital.
