Loyola’s McCammon to play basektball in Europe

Former Loyola University guard Geoff McCammon has signed a professional contract to play basketball for MIA Tbilisi in the Republic of Georgia.

Last season, the Roselle native led the Ramblers in scoring with 14.4 points per game and knocked down a Loyola single-season-record 85 three-point field goals en route to Horizon League Sixth Man of the Year honors.

McCammon, a Conant High School graduate, joins a MIA Tbilisi team that is 2-0 this season. McCammon will be a MIA Tbilisi teammate of former UIC standout Robo Kreps, who is averaging 24.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists through the first two contests of the year.

McCammon becomes the fourth Rambler to be playing professionally overseas this season, joining Blake Schilb (France), Tracy Robinson (Finland) and Ryan Blankson (Uruguay).

McCammon averaged 8.9 ppg in his career, including 12.6 ppg over the last two seasons and left Loyola ranked sixth on the school’s all-time three-pointers chart with 143.

Last season McCammon tossed in a career-best 31 points in a game against DePaul, and also contributed 21.0 ppg in two contests versus the UIC Flames.
