Grayslake North handles Woodstock

Katie McGrath and Kelsey Klausner hit 15 of 16 and 14 of 14, respectively, with 7 kills each, as Grayslake North’s girls volleyball team defeated host Woodstock 27-25, 25-20 in a Fox Valley Fox Division match Thursday night.

McGrath also served 6 aces and notched 8 digs. Lisa Lowry dished out 19 assists, and added 2 aces and 2 kills for Grayslake North (5-10, 2-2).

CL Central d. Grayslake Central: The visiting Tigers prevailed 25-21, 20-25, 25-19 in a Fox Valley Fox showdown.

Grayslake Central (10-6, 2-2) received 8 kills, 5 blocks and 2 aces from Alex Dahlstrom. Gabi Casper and Klaudia Basierak added 7 kills apiece, Meghan Brewster was 82-of-82 setting with 38 assists, and Marina Treto chalked 15 digs for the Rams.

“We played a hard-fought match, and we had a great second set,” Grayslake Central coach Jason Janczak said. “We just couldn’t get our momentum going in Game 3. We played well but couldn’t get a run going in that third. Credit CLC for some solid defense. I’m proud of my girls for pushing three with them. Now we need to learn how to close out.”

Carmel d. Wheeling: Taylor Pippen had 4 kills, 2 blocks and 3 aces for the Corsairs in their 25-7, 25-18 nonconference win.

Carmel (11-2) also got 4 kills from Jessie Wayland and three from Caitlin Barry. Elizabeth Green paced the Corsairs with 7 digs, while Barry added 3 aces and Megan Mowery lofted 12 assists.

Richmond-Burton d. Lakes: The Eagles (9-4) fell for the second straight night, despite 11 kills from Emily Aigner and six from Sarah Horner. Rachel Sieracke had 17 assists for Lakes.
