Moon program offered at Brewster Creek

Daily Herald report

The sky’s the limit at the Kane County Forest Preserve District’s March 15 nature program, “How High the Moon.” At this evening Learn from the Experts program, experts will highlight features of the moon, discuss how the features were formed, and how the chronology of events that shaped the moon is determined.

“How High the Moon” will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, at The Lodge at Brewster Creek in St. Charles. Registration is $10.

“Our moon is the single most-detailed object in the night sky that we can observe with telescopes. Selenologists are still learning many things about it and puzzling over some interesting features,” said Valerie Blaine, nature programs manager for the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. “After the program, provided the weather cooperates, we’ll set up telescopes outside and take our own ‘tour of the moon,” she said.

Learn from the Experts programs are taught by experts in the field and offer in-depth information and learning opportunities. Programs are jointly sponsored by the Forest Preserve District and Fox Valley, Geneva and St. Charles Park Districts. These programs are for ages 16 and older. Advance registration is required.
