Hanover Township offering senior diabetes workshop

Starting on Monday, Feb. 7, Hanover Township is partnering with Avesena Home Health Care to offer a six-week workshop for seniors to “Take Charge of Your Diabetes.”

The group will meet from 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. every Monday, except on Presidents Day, Feb. 21, through March 21, at the Streamwood Park District, 550 S. Park Blvd. in Streamwood.

Throughout the course of the program, participants will learn new skills to take a more active approach to their treatment.

“Residents who are battling diabetes are not alone,” said Cathy Reese, Hanover Township social services specialist. “We will be able to help people improve the outlook on their treatment by giving them tools that will directly benefit their overall health.”

“Take Charge of Your Diabetes” is sponsored and licensed by Age Options, the regional agency on aging serving suburban Cook County.

To register, residents can call the Streamwood Park District at (630) 483-3025. Funding for this event was provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
