Outlook: Hampshire has won each of the four meetings since North Boone joined the Big Northern Conference in 2006. The Whip-Purs are approaching the BNE opener as a chance to start fresh. "Everyone is 0-0 coming into conference and we're all starting over here," Hampshire coach Dan Cavanaugh said. "I think we've gotten better each week and now is the time to do it." Both teams take the field without their starting quarterbacks. Hampshire's Bryan Roberts remains sidelined with a sore neck. North Boone lost its three-year starting quarterback Alex Albrecht to a broken ankle in Week 2 against Byron. He had already thrown for 3,400 career yards in the Vikings' spread attack prior to the injury. Sophomore Austin Baden has stepped in and performed well in Albrecht's absence. He has completed 42-of-74 attempts for 717 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has been intercepted six times. "He's good. They've hardly missed a beat without him," Cavanaugh said. "They still do the same things: four or five wide out of the shotgun. Defensively, it's a different prep this week with an extra defensive back in there against a throwing team like this. We've played real good defense at times, but we've given up the big play too many times." Hampshire junior quarterback Chase Lundry staked the Whip-Purs to an early lead last week with a 44-yard touchdown run. Senior Mike Kuefner leads the Whips with 214 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns on 61 carries. North Boone senior Jon Albrecht has 20 receptions for 325 yards and 5 touchdowns.
