2011 municipal election preparation starts Tuesday
We're not even through with one election and another one is starting.
Tuesday is the first day people can circulate nomination petitions for offices to be elected in the April 5, 2011 municipal elections.
Candidates have until December to decide if they are actually going to file those petitions, however. The filing date is Dec. 13 to 20. All terms are four years, unless otherwise noted.
These are the city council and village board seats up for election.
The seats of four village presidents are up for election: Campton Hills' Patsy Smith, Kaneville's Bob Rodney, Lily Lake's Jesse Heffernan and Eileen Phipps in Wayne.
BataviaAldermen Garran Sparks, Alan Wolff, Dan Chanzit, Tom Schmitz, Lucy Thelin Atac, Lisa Clark, Dave Brown and Janet Jungels all have expiring terms. Jungels' seat in the 3rd Ward is a two-year term. Petition forms can be picked up at the city clerk's office at the Batavia Government Center, 100 N. North St.GenevaThe seats of aldermen Charles Brown, Robert Piper, Ray Pawlak, Dorothy Flanagan and Craig Maladra are up for election. Petition forms are available at City Hall, James and First streets, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.KanevilleTrustees Poul Flamand, Myra Ottoson and Paul Ross are up for re-election. The Kaneville village hall is at the Werdin Community Center, Main Street and Harter roads. Main St.Lily LakeThe terms of Mary Rose Damisch and William Dekker are up for election. The village hall is at 43W680 Empire Road. The Maple Park Civic Center, 302 Willow St., is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.North AuroraThe terms of Bob Strusz, Mike Herlihy III and Mark Guethle expire. Pick up forms at the village hall, 25 E. State St., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.Sugar GroveThree terms are available. They are currently held by Melisa Taylor, Kevin Geary and Mari Johnson. Pick up petitions from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at 10 S. Municipal Drive.WayneFour terms are available: Those of trustees Mike Anastasio, Ed Hull, Rob Reed and Pete Connolly. Petitions are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the administrative offices at Baker Community Center, 101 S. Second St., St. Charles.Library board: Two six-year terms are available. One is currently held by Kimberly D. Reese. The other is a vacancy left by the death of Trustee John Slusser.North Aurora Messenger Library board: Three 4-year terms are available: Those of Rolin Rapp and William MiddletonSugar GrovePark board: The 6-year terms of Michael Bachio and Kevin Johnson are on the ballot. Pick up forms from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 61 Main St., Sugar Grove.Library board: Four 4-year terms and one two-year unexpired term are up for election. Current officeholders are Sabrina Malano, Julie Wilson, Bob Bergman and Sherie Novotny. Pick up forms at the library, 25 S. Municipal Drive. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday.West Aurora School District 129Four 4-year terms are up for election: Those of Allyson Herget, Maricela Perez, Angie Smith and Jim Toynton. Petition forms can be picked up at headquarters at 80 S. River St., Aurora.Kaneland School District 302Three 4-year terms are available: Those of Lisa Wiet, Diane Piazza and Deborah Grant. In addition, there will be an election for a two-year term to serve out the vacancy of Robert Myers, who recently resigned. Petition forms are available at the district's headquarters, Kaneland High School, Meredith and Keslinger roads.Waubonsee Community CollegeThe 4-year terms of Karen L. Cotter, James K. Michels and James E. Pilmer expire. Petitions can be picked up from David Quillen, vice president of finance and operations, Suite 205 of the Dickson Center on the Sugar Grove campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.
