Volleyball club tryoutsThe TNT Volleyball Club in Buffalo Grove will hold tryouts for boys between the ages of 13 and 18 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The tryouts will take place at Merifian Middle School, 2195 Brandywyn Lane, Buffalo Grove. Tryout times for boys aged 13 through 16 is 8 p.m., and boys aged 17 and 18 at 9:30 p.m. on all three nights. The tryout fee is $20. People trying out should arrive 30 minutes before the event to register. Route 134, Ingleside. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the district's plans for providing special education services to students with disabilities who attend private schools and home schools within the district for the 2010-11 school year. Parents of home-schooled students who have been or may be identified with a disability and reside within the boundaries of District 37 are urged to attend. People with additional questions should contact Jodeen Lord at (847) 546-9336 ext. 203.Learn about cornThe Lake County Forest Preserve District will host a program for kids called "Little Sprouts - Crows in the Corn" on Wednesday, Sept. 22. Participants will learn about corn's many uses and how to make scarecrows. The program begins at 10 a.m. at the Bonner Heritage Farm near Lindenhurst. It's open to kids ages 2 to 5 who are accompanied by adults. Admission is $5 for county residents or $7 for anyone else. The chaperones enter free. To register, go to lcfpd.org or call (847) 968-3321.
