The league and the Players' Association have reached a deal through 2030. It still must be ratified by the Board of Governors and the full NHLPA membership. Extending the regular season from 82 to 84 games is also expected to come with a reduction in exhibition play. The maximum length of contracts getting shortened and a playoff salary cap being implemented are among the other changes.
