That came for the Wheeling's baseball team on Tuesday as the host Wildcats edged Lake Forest Academy 5-4. Heading into this season, Wheeling was looking at its experience to carry its senior-laden squad. But when freshman Drew Roberts stepped into the batters box with 2 outs and no one on in the bottom of the 6th in a 4-4 tie, that all changed. Roberts battled for 10 pitches, fouling off 3 tosses with a full count. He then drilled a line drive through the left side for a single. Senior Marty Falkiner followed up with a double to right-center, and Roberts raced around the bases with the eventual winning run.

Lake Forest Academy savors victory over St. ViatorJan 19, 2015 10:49 PM - Being an associate member of the IHSA, Lake Forest Academy does not compete in a conference or the postseason state tournament. "So playing in these kind of tournaments (Monday's Season's End at Fenton High School) is great for us," said Lake Forest Academy girls basketball coach Chris Tennyson. "We are so appreciative when we get invited because these are fun for us." And when you are winning, the fun is even greater. The Caxys are now 2-0 in the tourney and 12-1 for the season after a 48-45 victory over St. Viator.
