In the new "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten" program, parents are encouraged to read 1,000 books to their children before the youngsters start kindergarten.

Carol Stream Library won't sell Kuhn Road property -- for nowSep 19, 2013 4:46 PM - Following an occasionally contentious debate, the Carol Stream Library board has decided to delay the sale of land once earmarked for a new library and instead to temporarily offer it for use by the park district. Officials say the decision, approved Wednesday in a 5-2 vote, will allow the library to pursue the sale of the 7.5 acres at 2N540 Kuhn Road at a later date when market conditions improve.

"It seemed like the best plan to (survey respondents) was to hang onto it until the market gets better. We can think about selling it at some point if we don't use it for a new library," board President Jim Bailey said. -
