Blackhawks to host Penguins in Soldier Field night gameMay 1, 2013 4:52 PM - The Blackhawks will host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Soldier Field on March 1 as the NHL increases the number of outdoor games. The two teams will meet in the 63,000-seat stadium, the NHL said today in an e-mailed release. It is the first of additional outdoor games that the NHL plans to announce in the coming weeks as part of its Stadium Series, according to the statement.

NIU-Nebraska to play at Soldier Field in 2016Dec 17, 2012 2:08 PM - After hosting Wisconsin and Iowa at Soldier Field in recent years, Northern Illinois will return to the lakefront in 2016 to play the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the first of three football games between the teams, school officials announced Monday. The Huskies and Cornhuskers will play at Soldier Field on Sept. 24, 2016, and NIU will travel to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb. for games on Sept. 2, 2017 and Sept. 14, 2019.

No. 9 Notre Dame runs over Miami 41-3Oct 6, 2012 10:08 PM - Cierre Wood and George Atkinson III gave Notre Dame its first 100-yard rushing duo in a decade, and Everett Golson came off the bench to lead the No. 9 Irish to a 41-3 victory over Miami on Saturday night in what was a very tame sequel to the famed "Catholics vs. Convicts" rivalry. Wood rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and Atkinson added 123 yards and another score. Golson, who sat the first series as punishment for violating team rules, completed his first six passes and finished 17 of 22 as Notre Dame improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2002.
