Health Department Offers Reduced Water Testing Rates

The Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center will offer reduced water testing rates in observance of National Ground Water Awareness Week. Between March 7 and 18, 2016, the Department is offering a reduced rate for well water testing for private well owners. During this time, the normal $18.00 analysis fee for testing for bacteria and nitrates will be reduced to $12.00. Sterile test bottles and sampling instructions are available at the Lake County Central Permit Facility, the main Health Department office at 3010 Grand Avenue in Waukegan, or at 16 separate township or municipal offices located throughout Lake County. Water sampling kits can also be mailed for $15.00.
New Spring Programs Announced at the Center for Enriched Living!

An exciting lineup of programs, classes and social excursions have been announced for spring at the Center for Enriched Living (CEL)! CEL, a non-profit in Riverwoods, Illinois, provides social and recreational opportunities for nearly 500 Chicagoland teens, adults and seniors with developmental disabilities including autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and others.

Clean Cities Coalitions to host environmental conference

The Lake Michigan Clean Cities Consortium will host the Green Drives Conference and Expo May 19 at Northern Illinois University's Conference Center in Naperville. "At Green Drives, we connect the people and technologies that help make sustainable transportation a reality," said John Walton, vice chairman of Chicago Area Clean Cities. "As one of the largest events of its kind in the Midwest, this conference is a great opportunity to learn about new vehicle technologies, alternative fuels, charging and fueling infrastructure, and funding and incentives."

VILLA PARK- Huge strides have been made in addressing the heroin epidemic in DuPage communities, the DuPage Narcan Program (DNP) achieved a tremendous milestone on Thursday with the 100th life saved since the start of the program. "DuPage County first responders are providing residents with an invaluable service," State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) said. "I'm proud of the work we continue to do for area residents and look forward to spreading the program's success throughout the state."

SPRINGFIELD- State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) issued the following statement regarding Gov. Rauner's State of the State address: "Clearly we need to do more to encourage government consolidation and remove redundancies, waste, fraud and abuse. I sponsored the legislation that helped do this in DuPage County and look forward to working with the governor to find a responsible solution."
