Apr 13, 2023 3:35 PM - Hanover Township's eighth annual "Sprint 2 Spring" 5K run/walk will be held on Saturday, May 6, at the Hanover Township Izaak Walton Youth Center in Elgin. The race aims to promote health and wellness within the community but will also raise funds for the Hanover Township Foundation in assisting low-income residents in obtaining dental and medical services. Registration is open now through May 4 online and available in-person the day of the 5K before the race begins. Registration is $30 through May 4 and $35 the day of the race. The Association of Illinois Township Committees on Youth presented Hanover Township Supervisor Brian McGuire with the Friend to Youth Award. The honor is bestowed to a township elected official who has shown an outstanding commitment to youth. The Hanover Township Department of Youth & Family Services received the association's Organization of the Year Award for their contributions to the township's youth community through their family therapy services, in-school drug prevention and youth leadership programs and their dynamic special events. -
