A Very West Towns Christmas returns Dec. 9-10

"A Very West Towns Christmas" will be presented in two shows at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9-10, in the Huizinga Auditorium at Timothy Christian Schools, 188 W. Butterfield Road in Elmhurst.

This year's West Towns Chorus holiday show will feature many of the signature elements of this barbershop chorus's highly popular past Christmas shows.

These elements include about 35 male voices singing holiday tunes in four-part harmony, featuring holiday favorites in Act I such as "The Christmas Song" (Chestnuts Roasting), and "O Christmas Tree," among others.

Act II songs range from "Joy to the World" and the beautiful "Mary, Did You Know," to the powerful closing number, "Adeste Fideles."

Directing the chorus, which rehearses in Downers Grove, will be Carrie Marcotte of Bolingbrook, who recently led the group to its second place win in the state Barbershop Chorus competition in Bloomington, Il. Aiding her will be assistant directors Joe Tomecek and Mark Betczynski.

Guest groups joining the program include the Chicago Bronze Handbells, Affinity Strings, and a small group from the Village Vocal Chords.

In addition to the variety and quality of the music, there will be moments of humor and some intermission fun involving attendees buying raffle tickets for a variety of gift baskets.

Tickets are $30 for preferred front and center seating and $25 for general admission. Advance ticket sales end at 6 p.m. Dec. 8. Tickets will still be available for purchase at the door while quantities last.

Groups of 10 or more get a $2 per ticket discount, making tickets only $28 preferred/$23 general.
