Seigle Foundation turns the table, hosting lunch to thank nonprofits

Turning the tables on the typical funder/recipient relationship, Seigle Foundation hosted a luncheon on Nov. 2 to thank their grantees.

Elgin Area School District U-46 Foundation representative Jean Bednar stated, "Today's luncheon was really amazing. Work lunches are not usually fun, but ... what was it about this one? Well, first of all, it is humbling to have the people who literally give you money invite you out to lunch and thank you for being awesome.

"Secondly, when you get in a room with so many terrific people, there is really no one there that is not interesting to talk to," Bednar said. "Everyone I conversed with, whether I knew them previously or not, were gracious and engaging and made me feel comfortable. So kudos for putting so many great people together in one room."

Board member Robin Seigle said, "It was such a joy to have so many deserving guests in the room sharing their stories. What a pleasure to see them collaborate with old friends and make new acquaintances from the non-profit community."

The event was attended by 30 organizations that provide services in the four focus areas of the Seigle Foundation: arts, education, food and housing.

The recipient need not be based in the Elgin/Dundee area, but they are required to provide services within that geography.
