Scholar Arthur Petersen to discuss climate change policy in the Netherlands on Nov. 15

On Wednesday, Nov. 15, University College London professor Arthur Petersen will present "Climate Change and Public Policy: Lessons from the Netherlands" at Elmhurst University.

Before joining University College London, he worked for more than 13 years as a scientific adviser on environment and infrastructure policy for the Dutch government.

Besides his work for the Dutch government, Petersen served as chief scientist of the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. He also is a research affiliate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a visiting professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Petersen has doctoral degrees in atmospheric science, public policy and theology, and most of his research is about dealing with uncertainty.

Petersen is a professor of science, technology and public policy at University College London, and is editor-in-chief of "Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science."

Petersen's talk begins at 4 p.m. in Schaible Science Center in Illinois Hall at the university, 190 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst. Admission is free and all are welcome. For information, email marketing@elmhurst.edu.
