Geneva High teacher named ILAFCS Teacher of the Year

Sara Consdorf, a family and consumer sciences teacher at Geneva High School, has been recognized as the Illinois Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher of the Year by the Illinois Affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The award identifies and recognizes exemplary teachers with outstanding educational programs that utilize current methods, techniques and activities integrated into the curriculum that provide the stimulus for and give visibility to family and consumer sciences.

The objective of the Teacher of the Year Award program is to recognize the contributions and development of state-of-the-art programs in family and consumer sciences.

Consdorf started three new classes at Geneva High School: Early Childhood Education, Introduction to Education, and Teaching Internship.

She founded the Little Vikings Preschool and is the current adviser for the Educators Rising Club and the National Technical Honor Society.

Consdorf will represent Illinois at the 115th American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences annual conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 5-10, 2024.
