Grab your lederhosen for Naper Settlement's Oktoberfest Oct. 6-7

Traditional German cuisine and beer will be overflowing in a giant heated tent at Naper Settlement's Oktoberfest on Friday, Oct. 6 from 5-10 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 7 from 3-10 p.m. There will be lively Oompah music on Friday and a mix of pop-polka, country, and hip-hop on Saturday.

Professional pumpkin carving demonstrations and lawn games for the whole family will take place each day.

During the stein holding contest at 5 p.m. Saturday, Naper Settlement will crown the strongest males and females with prizes awarded to the top three winners.

Belgio's Catering, Ben's Pretzels, John's Rib House, and Decadent Flavor will serve tasty treats and traditional German cuisine, such as chicken schnitzel sandwiches, pretzels, and brats. There will be a variety of local and traditional beer selections, including Hofbräu Oktoberfest, Schöfferhofer Grapefruit, Schlafly Pumpkin, and others.

Wine offerings from Bishops Hill Winery include Cabernet Sauvignon, Bishops Red Blend, and Sauvignon Blanc.

On Friday, enjoy music by Ed Wagner's Lustige Blaskapelle from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the Polkaholics from 8-10 p.m.

Freeze Dried will open the festival at 3 p.m. Saturday, followed by Whiskey Romance from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the Lowdown Brass Band from 8-10 p.m.

Tickets are $20 or $15 for youth, ages 4-12. Naper Settlement members and children under age 4 receive complimentary admission.

Tickets also are on sale for Naper Settlement's All Hallows Eve and Howlin' at the Moon.

Families with children, age 16 or younger, can enjoy a lineup of Halloween-themed outdoor activities and performances at All Hallows Eve on Oct. 20-21 from 6:30-10 p.m.

During Howlin' at the Moon, adults, age 21 or older, can come dressed in costumes to howl along to live music, watch thrilling performances, feast their fangs on cuisine, and quench their undying thirst in a booze bar on Oct. 27-28 from 5-10 p.m.

A 15-foot werewolf art installation created by nationally recognized Naperville artist Paul Kuhn will be on display at All Hallows Eve and Howlin' at the Moon. A zombie photo experience created by horror photographer Joshua Hoffine and professional makeup and FX artist Damien Zimmerman will also be featured at All Hallows Eve and Howlin' at the Moon.
