Mundelein Heritage Museum Seeking Docents

The Mundelein Historical Commission is in need of docents at the Heritage Museum. Docents are volunteer museum guides. Duties include opening and closing the museum, greeting visitors, answering questions, and selling merchandise. The museum is open Wednesdays 4 pm to 7 pm, and Saturdays 1 pm to 4 pm, from mid-March until mid December. Docents work in pairs and are usually scheduled for one or two shifts per month. If interested, a docent can help curate museum displays, set up new exhibits, work at special events, or help at highway clean-up days. (The Historical Commission has adopted Courtland Street from Rt. 45 to Noel Drive.)

No special skills are required, but an interest in history, historical artifacts, and Mundelein's past are a plus. Docents are given a handbook to review that includes a great deal of information about their role, the museum, the exhibits and local history.

If this sounds interesting to you, please contact mflynn@email.mundelein.org or stop by the museum during operating hours and speak with an actual docent. For further information on the Historical Commission visit www.mundelein.org.
