Nicor Gas announces $100,000 in support of community programs promoting stability, wellness

Expanding on its commitment to support critical needs across its service territory, Nicor Gas is announcing $100,000 in funding to support basic human needs programming.

Starting June 1, nonprofit organizations may apply for these assistance grants from Nicor Gas to support their initiatives that provide food, shelter, clothing and disaster relief to the community.

Applications are available at www.NicorGas.com/CharitableGiving through Aug. 31 with funding decisions by Oct. 31.

Selected nonprofits and community organizations will be eligible to receive up to $5,000 in grant funds this year.

"At Nicor Gas, we believe that a healthy and stable community is a thriving community," said Jackie Nagel, manager of Community Affairs. "We are proud to partner with organizations and programs that are making a difference in the lives of our neighbors by providing the most basic needs and providing support where there is an acute need for assistance."

In 2022, the company provided grant support to:

• Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry - Supported mobile pantries throughout Fox Valley, distributing food, diapers, hygiene products, baby formula and other basic need items.

• South Suburban PADS - Supported emergency shelter, food and case management to help families move into stable housing.

• Rock River Valley Pantry - Supported the delivery of dairy products to those experiencing food insecurity in the Rockford area.
