Annual Kite Fly returns to Naperville's Frontier Sports Complex June 4

The 16th annual Kite Fly, presented by The Branch-Naperville Moms, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Frontier Sports Complex, 3380 Cedar Glade Drive in Naperville.

A free event, the Kite Fly is co-hosted by Naperville Park District and KidsMatter to provide fun for all ages and a rare opportunity to view gigantic kites flown by kite enthusiasts from Chicago Kite.

Participants also can practice flying their own kites.

"We look forward to this fun event to kick off summer," said Becca Krzyszkowski, volunteer and events manager. "We invite the community to fly a kite, enjoy the kite demonstrations and live entertainment and participate in fun, educational games. Feel free to bring a picnic or purchase lunch or snacks from the food trucks on site."

Entertainment includes local musicians who enjoy performing outdoors. This year, the park district recognizes the Neuqua Valley High School Steel Drum Ensembles for their 10th performance at this event.

Their unique sound always attracts an enthusiastic audience. The entertainment schedule is as follows:

• Noon to 12:45 p.m.: Andrew Huber, soloist, acoustic guitar

• 1 to 1:45 p.m.: Scribble Monster, children's music

• 2 to 3:45 p.m.: Neuqua Valley and Metea Valley high schools' Steel Drum Ensembles and Metea Valley High School Mariachi Ensemble, instrumental music

KidsMatter is providing Games from Around the World, an educational and fun activity enjoyed by many participants at the 2022 event.

"A few new countries will be joining us this year for Games from Around the World," said Nina Menis, CEO and executive director of KidsMatter. "Young people and families will have the opportunity to learn more about other parts of the world and their cultures through the games that children play."
