Help DAR Chapter Place Flags on Vietnam War Veterans' Graves

Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, invites all Veterans and members of the public to attend the National Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Day Service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Evergreen Cemetery, 600 Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL. Registration is not required.

A brief program will feature representatives from local VFW, American Legion, and Lake Barrington Shores veterans' organizations; state and local officers from the Daughters of the American Revolution; and Barrington village officials. After the playing of taps, 41 Vietnam War Veterans interred at the Evergreen Cemetery will be honored.

 

Volunteers will place a flag on each of the graves while saying the veteran's name, thanking him or her for their service, and giving them a salute. The DAR will have flags at the event for those who wish to place them.

The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded just over fifty years ago in Barrington, IL. NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization headquartered in Washington, DC.

DAR members promote historic preservation, education and patriotism via commemorative events, scholarships and educational initiatives, citizenship programs, service to veterans, meaningful community service, and more.

Since its founding in 1890 over one million women have joined NSDAR. Membership is open to any woman aged 18 and over who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution. For more information about the Barrington, IL-based chapter, visit: https://signalhilldar.com.
