Inaugural St. Patrick's Day Procession to end with annual Irish flag raising ceremony

Paint the city green at the inaugural Aurora St. Patrick's Day Procession and Ceremony at noon on Sunday, March 12, in downtown Aurora.

Sponsored by the Dolan Family, in collaboration with the City of Aurora, the celebration will feature the Daniel Dolan Sr. Procession with more than 20 procession units, including vehicles, cultural groups, businesses, and organizations.

With Downer Place as the focal route, the procession will step off Water St., head west, and conclude at Stolp Avenue, where participants and spectators will convene for the second annual Irish flag raising ceremony on the main stage located at 20 E. Downer Place.

The ceremony will include cultural performances, a proclamation reading, the Emerald Excellence Awards presentation, and the raising of the Irish flag.

Dolan, who died in February 2020 at age 89, was instrumental in bringing back an Irish festival to the Fox Valley. He also was a pillar of the Irish Club in Aurora and a supporter of Irish cultural initiatives.

The public is invited to attend this family-friendly celebration.
