Elgin Lions Club are taking orders for 39th annual Rose Day fundraiser

Members of the Elgin Lions Club are conducting their 39th annual Rose Day fundraiser.

Rose Day is a major fundraising event for the club that began in 1984 and was so well received that it is now an annual affair.

Elgin Lions Club members are selling a dozen long-stemmed roses for $15 for delivery April 5-7 within the greater Elgin area.

Purchasers will have fresh flowers with which to celebrate Easter, reinforce a loving relationship, to thank someone or just to brighten up a room. People who have received roses in the past have been impressed by their quality. They compare favorably with roses costing five times as much.

Roses can be ordered several ways:

• Call (847) 289-4206 and leave a message, a club member will call you back to complete the process.

• Visit the website, elginlions.org, to print and complete an order ticket then either mail it with a check to Elgin Lions Club, P.O. Box 276, Elgin IL 60121 or drop off your ticket and payment in a sealed envelope at the American Legion at 820 N. Liberty St.

• PayPal is available at an additional $1 fee. Visit elginlions.org and select "Go to the page on Roses" button. Email completed order tickets to elginillinoislions1@gmail.com.

Nearly all money raised by the Elgin Lions Club is used to assist residents in the Elgin area.

The club helps deliver vision care for children and adults, fund scholarships to Elgin and Larkin high schools, and work closely with other local charitable organizations.

Some funds are given to the Lions International and the Lions of Illinois Foundation to help people effected by hurricanes, floods, tornados and other natural disasters wherever in the world they may live.
