"Fanfares, Overtures & Hymns" will be the theme of a concert by Fox Valley Brass Band on Sunday, March 5, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora.

The concert will begin at 3 p.m. at the church, 14 N. May St. The public is invited. Parking is free.

 

Ticket prices online are $15 or $12 for students and seniors.

Tickets at the door are $18 or $15 for students and seniors.

Director Victor Anderson will lead the band in William Himes' "Amazing Love," Philip Sparke's "A London Overture" and brass fanfares, overtures, and hymns.

The mission of the Fox Valley Brass Band is to perform high quality concerts of brass literature for the Fox Valley community while providing an entertaining and engaging cultural experience.

The March 5 concert is the third of three 2022-23 performances at Wesley.

The band's season finale will be "Brass Americana" on Sunday, June 25, at 3 p.m. at Simmons Park, 1201 E. Indian Trail Road in Aurora. Donations will benefit Wesley UMC.

The group features high-level volunteer musicians from the Fox Valley area and beyond.

Members are chosen not only for their musicianship, but also for their willingness to support and create educational opportunities for youth.

The band performs a range of brass literature, focusing primarily on traditional British brass band genre. It also promotes the new works of contemporary composers through both original compositions and transcriptions.
