Aurora church's pancake breakfast to benefit quilters

Eat pancakes, help an Aurora church's quilting group distribute more covers.

That's the invitation from St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 27 S. Edgelawn Drive in Aurora.

On Sunday, Feb. 19, from 8 to 9:45 a.m., the church will host a pancake breakfast to benefit Lydia's Piecemakers, a volunteer quilting group.

The event in Sanctuary Hall will feature pancakes, sausage, applesauce, orange juice, coffee and milk.

Gluten-free pancakes are available on request.

The public is invited. Parking and admission are free but a freewill offering is requested.

Proceeds will go to help fund shipping costs for Lydia's quilts to area charities.

Betty Lankers, a Lydia's member, said the Piecemakers Quilt Guild is a national nonprofit organization that promotes quilt making.

She added, "As we fashion quilts to express ideas, warm families and decorate homes, we join those who taught us and in turn inspire future quilters, preserving past traditions and creating new ones."
