Dist. 21 board of education recognized for leadership

The Illinois Association of School Boards, North Cook Division, recognized several District 21 school board members for their leadership and service.

Staci Allan and Jessica Riddick, secretary, were recognized as "Established Board Leaders," meaning they earned more than 200 activity points during their service to the board.

Debra McAtee, vice president, and Bill Harrison were recognized for being "Distinguished Board Leaders," meaning they earned more than 400 activity points.

Arlen S. Gould and Phil Pritzker were recognized as "Legacy Board Leaders," meaning they earned more than 400 activity points with 25 years or more of service to the board.

And finally, Wheeling District 21 was recognized with the honor of School Board Governance, only one of 33 school boards in the state with this designation.

"We are honored to have such esteemed members serving on our board. Their dedication to the schools and our community is extraordinary," said Micheal DeBartolo, assistant superintendent of Finance and Operations.

Community Consolidated School District 21 serves students in grades pre-K through eight from parts of Wheeling, Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights and Northbrook.

There are 13 schools in the district, and students from District 21 matriculate to Township High School District 214 upon completion of eighth grade.

The purpose of District 21 schools is to provide a learning environment for all students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens.
