Code Ninjas South Naperville joins in global Computer Science Education Week

Code Ninjas, a center in South Naperville where kids learn to code during afterschool programs and camps, is celebrating the global Computer Science Education Week with a series of events for area children to spread awareness and love for coding.

Computer Science Education Week is an annual Call to Action to inspire kindergarten to 12th-grade students to learn computer science, advocate for equity, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers, and partners to the field.

Code Ninjas has planned activities developed in collaboration with Microsoft MakeCode. These activities are designed to ignite children's curiosity, creativity, and capacity to code. This weeklong Carnival of Code event is free and open to all. No coding experience is required. Learn aobut Computer Science Education Week at www.csedweek.org.

The local Code Ninjas center welcomes the community to join in these series of free events organized at the area Code Ninjas locations in South Naperville between Dec. 4 -10 to introduce coding to area children.

The series of events will culminate in a Code Ninjas annual tradition - a global coding challenge - the Hackathon held at Code Ninjas South Naperville from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9.

Teams of two children will complete a coding challenge in two hours for a chance to win local prizes. Winning entries will be entered into the global Code Ninjas Hackathon for a grand prize of two 3-D printers.

"We are thrilled to bring the community together to ignite the love of computer science among area children," said Angela Robinson, center director of Code Ninjas South Naperville.
