'It Was a Dark and Stormy Christmas' comes to Playhouse 38

Tickets are on sale for Playhouse 38's second weekend of "It Was a Dark and Stormy Christmas," an evening of dark, non-holiday comedy and music.

"An evening of dark, funny plays by Shel Silverstein, David Ives and Craig Gustafson, interspersed with songs by Tom Lehrer, 'It Was a Dark and Stormy Christmas' is a show for the Grinch in all of us," said director Craig Gustafson. "It contains adult content, humor and almost nothing to do with the holidays."

The cast includes Larissa Catalano, Jennifer Ciombor, John Frankenthal, Dan Hitzemann, Peter Lemongelli, and Lucy Smith. Christi Mabry is the assistant director/stage manager.

Showtimes are at 8 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, Dec. 1-3, at 321 Stevens St., Suite P, Geneva. There will also be a matinee show at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4.

Tickets are $15 each in advance or $20 at the door. Individuals are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at GenevaParks.org, or in person at Sunset Community Center or Stephen Persinger Recreation Center. The performance is recommended for ages 18 or older.

A member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Craig Gustafson of Lombard has had several short plays published in anthologies. His first full-length farce, "The Angle of Mercy," premiered in 2021.
