Christmas Meets Classic Rock in Lake County

Christmas meets classic rock in Classical Blast's live holiday concert, "Dark Side of the Yule."

This year's tour includes a stop in Lake County for the first time.

Lake County Community Concerts presents a matinee performance of "Dark Side of the Yule" at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec 4, at Waukegan High School's Orlin Trapp Auditorium, 2325 Brookside Ave.

Now in its seventh touring season, "Dark Side of the Yule" is a highly popular holiday musical celebration at small theaters throughout the Midwest.

The show melds Christmas and rock music in ways never heard before, with music by bands like Metallica, Evanescence, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Joni Mitchell and more, all mashed with holiday pop classics, baroque carols, and classical and original music.

It's Christmas, rock, pop, traditional and more, all rolled into a series of musical stories that explore the holiday season's darker themes. Don't worry; everyone sees the light by the end. Shows typically sell out.

Tickets are available at lakecountyconcerts.org while they last.

Chicago's Classical Blast is well known throughout the region for it's seamless blending of classic rock and classical music. Band members have performed and recorded with musicians and bands like Survivor, John Legend, Lizzo and major theatrical productions. The band has three albums on the Toucan Cove/Universal label.
