Shopping, Santa visits highlight Long Grove Vintage Holidays

Historic downtown Long Grove invites shoppers to rediscover the magic of the holiday season. The annual Long Grove Vintage Holidays campaign is a tribute to the classic small town holiday market experience - quaint shops, old-world charms and family memories.

Organized by the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association, Vintage Holidays 2022 will feature:

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides: Continuing every weekend through Dec. 18, groups of family and friends can get into the holiday spirit with vintage carriage rides for only $15 per person. From the twinkling covered bridge to the storefront Christmas trees, passengers are invited to sit back and take in the nostalgia of the holiday season as the clattering of horse hoofs lead the way. Sponsored by The Graff Group and Alden Long Grove Rehab & Health, registration for the more intimate horse-drawn sleigh ride can be found at LongGrove.org. Tickets for a second horse-drawn carriage ride for bigger groups will be sold on-site on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Holiday Caroling and Santa: Visitors who stroll historic downtown Long Grove marketplace during Vintage Holidays will not only enjoy the sights but the sounds of the holiday season too, with costumed carolers setting the tone. Additionally, on select weekends Nov. 25 through Dec. 18, visits by Santa Claus himself will put holiday smiles on all kids at heart. On Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Santa and his elves will also be on hand providing opportunities for pictures in the new Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association's Covered Bridge Park Project (in partnership with ComEd).

Merchant Open Houses and Promos: Merchants throughout downtown Long Grove will feature decorations, sales and specials on merchandise, food, drinks and more throughout the Vintage Holidays campaign. Beginning Friday, Nov. 25, and running through Dec. 18, anyone who spends $150 before tax/tip at any of the downtown merchants will receive a free gift from the Long Grove Visitors Center (maximum of four gifts per person, receipts must date between Nov. 25-Dec. 18; while supplies last).

Downtown Long Grove is at 145 Old McHenry Road. For information, visit longgrove.org/festivals/holiday-season.
